Nov 07, 2019 Download Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 ISO and DMG Image. The Mac OS X Mountain DMG file can be downloaded from the below link. The Mac OS X Mountain Lion is considered to be a very stable operating system and won’t be much of a trouble to the users. Make sure that the minimum system requirements are met. The File size is around 4.2 GB. For me, Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 (build 12C60) runs as a guest with VirtualBox 4.2.4 r81684 on a 12C60 host, MacBookPro5,2 with 8 GB memory: with EFI with fewer of the OSx86-oriented additions that I found necessary with some previous releases of VirtualBox. I've not tried the 10.9 setup yet, but I have successfully installed and run Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) in VirtualBox 4.3. I found I had to go searching for and download a copy of NullCPUPowerManagement.kext in order to get the installer to finish booting, but that was the only extra thing the script needed.
I am having a similar 'Failed to initialize COM' problem on Mac OS X 10.7.5, VirtualBox 4.2.2. I have wasted over six hours alone trying to address the issue, and it's still unresolved. My message:
Failed to initialize COM because the VirtualBox global configuration directory /Users/username/Library/VirtualBox is not accessible. Please check the permissions of this directory and of its parent directory.
The application will now terminate.
There is no such VirtualBox folder in my user Library folder. It is trying to locate a non-existent directory.
The closest workaround I could find that enabled VirtualBox to open was to create a brand new admin level user, log in to that user account, then install VirtualBox and run under that account. Works great, until I log out and try to run VirtualBox on my primary admin account, which results in the same 'failed to initialize COM' error. Cubase trial for mac os.
I have found no helpful advice geared towards Mac OS X users to troubleshoot or resolve this issue. You can try posting on Oracle's VirtualBox forum. Good luck.
